Still have a few leftover ice cream cones from summer? Turn them into cute little traditional pilgrim-hat cupcakes!
Celebrate the holidays with great projects the whole family can enjoy, brought to you by Bounty® ExtraSoft.
For this cupcake recipe, ice cream cones are used to create traditional pilgrim hats.
Cut the pound cake into pieces that will fit into cones. Have the kids fill the cones, pressing down lightly to make the cake level at the top. Frost the cones on the top, and turn them over so they sit on top of the cookies.
Mom: Ready to paint, guys? Kids: Yeah!
Heat the remaining frosting in the microwave until it is pourable (about 15 seconds). Mom, be careful when removing the frosting from the microwave, because it may still be hot, and make sure it's cooled before the kids use it to paint. When the frosting is ready, have the kids paint the frosting over the entire cone. Set in the refrigerator for a few minutes to harden the chocolate.
Cut the fruit leather into strips and wrap them around the base of the cone. Then, press a yellow gumdrop onto the hat as a buckle.
Mom: Surprise! Which one do you want? Kid: This one.
