Halloween-themed cakes are a ghoulish delight.
The kids will love making this pumpkin-shaped cake—it's a perfect party dessert and a fantastic centerpiece for your table.
Trim the bottoms of each bundt cake so they lie flat against each other. Frost the flat surface of the bottom cake and place the other cake on top.
Mom: Who wants to try frosting? Son: Me!
Have the kids make frosting by mixing orange food coloring into white frosting.
Son: Is that good, Mom?
Mom: Oh, that's perfect!
Frost the entire cake orange.
Using a rolling pin, roll out several chewy chocolate candies flat, like a thin pancake. Cut a mouth, and triangles for eyes, and press them onto the cake.
Make green frosting and ice an empty ice cream cone green. Place it upside down in the middle of the pumpkin cake to create a perfect stem!
Mom: Wow! Kids: Hooray! (Mom laughs.)
Now you're ready for the next festive cake idea!
This one uses decorative cake stencils to create great Halloween patterns right on the cake.
Draw a design, like a spider, a witch, or a pumpkin, on a sheet of paper. Cut out the inside of the design to create a stencil.
Mom: Do you want to try sifting the sugar? Son: Yeah! Mom: Alright.
Gently place the paper towel on top of the cake. Pour confectioners' sugar into the sifter and gently sift sugar on top of the stencil.
Carefully lift off the paper towel to reveal the Halloween shape. This method works well on cupcakes, too!
